The healthcare legislation recently passed by the current administration (Affordable Care Act) established the opportunity for the creation of a new consumer-governed nonprofit health insurance program , referred to as a CO-OP, that will operate with a strong consumer focus. The U.S. government has provided funding for the CO-OP program in the form of short-term and long-term loans.

With this model, the real control of patient care and healthcare costs is placed at the feet of the one group of people that have the greatest ability to effect both...the healthcare providers!
